There’s about a million reasons to head to Scottsdale in the spring time. The weather is absolutely perfect from sun up to sun down, spring training is in full swing, bringing the city to life with visitors and events, and the desert is blooming with colors. But, many people think that’s the only window to visit and that visiting in summer is like signing a death wish.

That couldn’t be further from the truth.

There’s no way to skirt around it — it’s hot in the summer. And for those not used to the heat, it can be pretty damn toasty. But the reality is, it’s only really hot here 1-2 weeks a year. The rest of the time, it’s pool days and unbeatable savings.

Killer Deals + No Crowds

During summer, many locals flee town for coastal getaways to the Golden State or head up north to cooler temperatures. And very little tourists visit due to above mentioned reasons. This means, business in town slows down and there’s not a ton of people around (let’s not forget, the greater Phoenix area is home to nearly 4.49 million people, so yes, this is a big selling point).

Because of this, there’s deals to be had all around. Like real deals. To attract guests, many hotels and resorts offer irresistible savings. You’ll practically feel like you’re making money by visiting 🙂 In previous summers, Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale, which normally goes for around $750 a night, has offered rooms for $179 a night. Not to mention, the more budget-friendly hotels, that are still top notch, can drop below $100.

Outside where to lay your head, many restaurants have great options too with little wait time. Summer is a great time to try some of the harder to get into outlets (we’re looking at you Pizzeria Bianco).

Cool Pools + Cheap Golf

You’ve never experienced refreshing if you haven’t spent all day running around on a hot summer day in Arizona and then jumped into a pool at the end. It’s kind of like stepping into a warm house on a cold winter day – only better, because you get tan.

And you know what the perfect pre-pool-jump activity is? Scottsdale is the golf capital of the United States after all. While you might be thinking spending 4 hours on a course in the summer sounds like death, hear us out. Golf rates in the summer drop low, meaning those dream courses (ever wanted to play TPC Scottsdale, the site of the Phoenix Open?) that can run upwards of $300 in the spring, are now under $100. And if you can score a tee time before 8 a.m. you’re in even better shape.

Shopping To Die For

Ok, so you don’t think you can handle being outdoors no matter how amazing the golf course is? Luckily, Scottsdale is home to some of the nation’s best shopping, and it’s about to get even better with the debut of The Palmeraie – it’s even been dubbed as “Rodeo Drive without the drive.”

Scottsdale Fashion Square, the city’s claim to fame in the retail space, is one of the top luxury shopping destinations in the country. You can spend an entire day here dropping some serious dough. It even has an entire luxury wing dedicated to those looking to really splurge. Think Saint Laurent, Jimmy Choo, Versace, Salvatore Ferragamo, Gucci, Cartier, Bulgari, Prada and more. It’s also home to Lululemon, AG Jeans, Allsaints, Nordstrom and other popular brands like Quay, Morphe, Alex and Ani, Peloton and Untuckit.

The Short Of It

In short, Scottsdale in the summer is a great place to visit if you’re looking for a relaxing vacation. If laying by the pool drinking margaritas, dropping money on new clothes and eating sound like the kind of getaway you need, don’t knock summer in Scottsdale.
